The world of mobile devices is growing at an exponential rate, and with business as competitive as it is, if you’re thinking about venturing into the app world for your company then there are 5 things your app should include.
The 5 things your app should include are not random guesses, and these 5 things do not overlap like other articles I have read where all 5 elements could fall under a single category.
Mobile marketing for business is here, and it’s staying; the question is when will your company get on the train?

With stats like that it seems the sooner you get on board, the better. But where do you start?
Let’s start with 5 things your app should include, and I will explain why for each of these points.
1. Branded to your Company
Quality apps are now affordable enough that you can have an app stamped with your company’s brand. There are several reasons you want to have a propriety app, here are three.
A. You will be building a digital database of your customers, one that you own. One that you can use in a multitude of ways to enhance your marketing. If you are using a 3rd party app, you are doing them an excellent service by developing eyeballs for them not you. Would you build another companies emails list? If you use a third-party app, you’re doing that and more. Data from an app is way more valuable than an email address.
B. With an app that you own, you can reward loyal customers. Generally, when you use a third-party app, they will require you to provide a deal or discount. Deals and discounts attract deal hunters; I think you would prefer to have loyal customers over deal hunters?
C. No Competition – Seems obvious but it is not! With third-party apps, you will be allowing your customers to move to your competition. Yeh, but I might get some of my competitors’ customers. Maybe but remember point #2 above about deal hunters.
2. A Rich User Experience (Simplicity)
There are two basic things when it comes to designing an app. User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX). UI is the design; it’s what you see, it’s how the app flows. UI is the floor plan of how you navigate between rooms. If you can make it ultra easy to figure out how to get to and from each place in your app, then the UX is going to be intuitive and straightforward.
A great UI will provide your customers with a great UX. Mediocre UI’s will give your customers a mediocre UX. You will lose your customers immediately without a great UX.
A rich UX will make your customer feel good after each use. If you can turn the use of your app into a good feeling, then your chances exponentially increase of getting your customer to use your app again.
Everything should be a single click with a maximum of two clicks away.
3. Give Rewards & Status
One thing we have learned is people do not want to be loyal, but they do want to feel important. So let’s give them rewards in exchange for being loyal.
The power of tiered loyalty
Take gamification to a different level by giving customers the opportunity to keep improving their status.
There should be two things at play here
- Levels or Tiers
A properly built system will allow your customers to feel like they are winning, however, more importantly, you want to make using your app fun, have your customer engaged in the process.
All this is possible without discounting, and you would be amazed at what lengths people will go to to get their points too.
4. Your App Needs Synergy
If you have pasta without your favourite pasta sauce how good is your pasta? I can ask the question in reverse too, if you have your favourite pasta sauce without pasta how good is your favourite pasta sauce?
the combined power of a group of things when they are working together that is greater than the total power achieved by each working separately
Synergy happens when you mix your pasta with your favourite pasta sauce. Delizioso as they say in Italy.
When you intertwine points with mobile payments, you create synergy inside your app. This synergy increases the chances of your customers coming back more often.
Contact us, and we will show you how this works and why it works. We are taping into what motivates human behaviour because synergy is the heart of your app.
If you are using your app for mobile payments, it means there is money involved. People do not like it when they lose money, or if anything happens to their hard-earned cash.
You will need at minimum the same security and SSL encryption as bank apps because all information that transfers through the web needs to be encrypted whether it is a credit card number or the transfer of funds.
The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) applies to companies of any size that accept credit card payments. If your company intends to receive card payment, and store, process and transmit cardholder data, you need to host your data securely with a PCI compliant hosting provider.
We use only accredited processing companies that do billions of dollars in transactions a year as well as Amazon AWS servers. All are PCI/DSS compliant.
